The Childbirth Resource Center of Grenada is a new and developing program that will ultimately serve pregnant and newly parenting women.
There are so many reasons why the women of Grenada, West Indies need and deserve help in general, and specifically in the area of Pregnancy, Childbirth and Early Parenting. Even before the devastation of Hurricane Ivan in 2004, which increased unemployment and poverty, the lack of resources available to women was an ongoing challenge. Currently, there is still little in the way of perinatal services beyond routine and emergency medical care. The center would attempt to fill this gap in services by offering education, resources and support. Coordinator, Heather Struckman has worked in the field of Pregnancy and Childbirth over the last eight years. Her personal commitment has always been to serve women who are faced with challenges such as...
- limited family and/or social support.
- high risk pregnancy
- trauma from a previous birth, loss or sexual assault.
- personal financial hardship.
The Childbirth Resource Center will hold to this same commitment. Therefore, regardless of a woman's ability to pay, we envision offering:
- Childbirth classes
- Resource Library
- Birth Counseling
- Labor support
- Lactation support with telephone hot-line
- Workshops on Nutrition, Wellness & Parenting
- Support groups around issues concerning lactation, postpartum depression, grief & loss and domestic violence
- Referrals to conventional and alternative birthing professionals
- Trainings for women interested in pursuing a career as a...
- Childbirth Educator
- Birth Doula or Post Partum Doula
- Lactation Consultant
During this critical start-up phase of the Childbirth Resource Center, your help is urgently needed. By responding now, you can play a part in making this dream a reality.
